Experience

I have only informal SAT tutoring experience with my sister and friends, but I have gone through multiple SAT tutoring courses as a student. The information I learned helped me to score 780/800 on the Critical Reading component, and 760/800 on the Mathematics component of the test, for a composite total of 1540/1600. I have taken the SAT three times, done more practice exams that I could count, and have learned a great deal about how to best study and prepare for the test. Tutoring with me would focus on three things: understanding test strategy, finding and reinforcing areas of weakness through practice tests and drills, and increasing the speed with which the student is able to move through test questions. Throughout high school I really struggled with my ADHD, and it affected my grades in a negative way. But over the past couple of years I've been taught and developed ways to successfully deal with it, and I want to pass these behavioral techniques to younger students. I do not believe that ADHD is necessarily a hindrance that needs to be "overcome", but just part of a person's nature that needs to be understood and managed in order for a they to achieve all that they are capable of, which, in my very biased opinion is usually quite a lot. After graduating high school in 2014, I took a gap year to travel. I started my travels volunteering in East Africa, and ended up living there for six months, raising money to oversee the construction of a small elementary school. I organized this construction project from it's inception to it's completion. About a month after the opening of the school I decided to leave Africa for Southeast Asia. I bought a motorcycle in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and traveled around the south of the country. After about two months I sold the bike and flew to Thailand, where I trained at a kickboxing camp for the remaining six weeks of my gap year.

Hobbies

I love the outdoors, I grew up hiking and camping often with my family and going on backpacking trips with my dad. Hiking and camping are still two big hobbies of mine. I love music, particularly hip hop, and have played the piano since I was very young. I'm also a big fan of live music. I love college and profession football (Packers baby) and professional basketball, and played tennis and wrestled throughout high school. I am an extreme extrovert, and I love to be around other people.
