I am an industrial scientist with almost 30 years of post-graduate education and experience. My core area of expertise is biochemistry, but I am knowledgeable in all areas of biology, including genetics, molecular biology, cell biology, and physiology, to name a few. My research has always been math intensive, including calculus and statistics, so these are areas where I am conditionally qualified as well. In addition to my technical degrees (B.Sc. and Ph.D.), I also hold a degree in the humanities (B.A.), and am widely read and self-educated in philosophy, history, literature, art, music, and cinema. My work as a scientist required significant amounts of technical and persuasive writing, including research papers, grants, and business proposals. I worked as an op-ed columnist and published a novel. Therefore, I am qualified to help students develop writing style for a wide range of assignments. I have taught, tutored, and mentored other students and scientists since I was in high school. Some of my most successful mentees have ended up as faculty and staff at places like Stanford, Harvard, and the University of California schools. Before accepting any student, I would want to discuss the particular needs and expectations to ensure my qualification as a tutor. The greatest reward for me as a tutor is the success of the student.
